Start a Garden from Scraps

Start a Garden from Scraps

Many of us have become much more conscientious about where our garbage and recycling goes. Composting programs have become mainstream, so we don’t have to worry that we are continually throwing away items that could be reused or recycled. Here at the Perfect Taste kitchen, we recycle, reuse, and compost!

Taking it to the next level- you can regrow your own vegetables and herbs from the bits and pieces you would normally toss away. This is one of the best ways to “recycle” what you already have in the kitchen…plus you can save money by starting a garden when they sprout.

To get the most of your veggie clippings, use filtered or spring water instead of tap and buy organic as much as possible.

There are probably over a dozen of veggies and herbs that will sprout and regrow themselves, but here are a few ideas- just in time for Spring!

1. Garlic

Encourage your garlic to sprout by setting them in water and giving it lots of light. You and use the raw sprouts in a salad to add garlic flavor without the bite of fresh garlic.
