Elegant Cocktail Party

Elegant Cocktail Party

One of the many reasons I love what I do is that I have the opportunity to visit homes and other places I would never get to see if it weren’t for catering a party.

Just so happens that I spent an evening last spring in just such a place.  Two of them to be exact.  Side by side Palo Alto condos both on the market for a cool $3,900,000 each.  If you’re interested, visit www.nancygoldcamp.com and look for www.260homer-302.com.  Tell Nancy that I sent you!

They are staged for sale so everything is pristine and brand new.  All this made me a bit nervous so we planned to set up a “field kitchen” on the patio away from the guests.  Unfortunately we had to go to Plan B since thunderstorms were predicted during the party hours.

We tarped the floor in one unit and set up our kitchen.  We set up the party in the other unit.  The guests were able to visit both units thanks to a supply of umbrellas some of which were ultimately contributed by my staff to handle the overflow guests.

This was a classic cocktail party with a wonderful supply of liquor to make all kinds of drinks.

We served Tarragon Lobster in Phyllo; Dungeness Crab Cakes with Chili Aioli; Red Belgian Endive with Laura Chenel Goat Cheese, Herb Infused Honey and a Fresh Raspberry; Roasted Garlic Cheese Puff; Mushroom Profiteroles and bite-sized Beef Wellington.

A divine cheese platter complemented the passes appetizers.  All of the cheese came by way of our friends at Cow Girl Creamery – our most favorite cheese vendor.  Especially delicious was the Devil’s Gulch.

And what would a party be without desserts – Lavender Creme Brulee; White and Dark Chocolate Mousse Parfaits; an assortment of tea cookies and of course Vanilla Bean Gelato and Espresso Ice Cream passed by our waiters.

The best pay of all is a happy client.  Here’s what she had to say.

“Thank you so much for an outstanding job last night…and under very difficult conditions (rain and the resulting distance between the kitchen and the party!).  The two managing partners both told me they had a great time and the catering was wonderful (one said he really liked the nice flow of hot appetizers throughout the event).  Another partner thought the food was “fabulous”.  I agree with all of them and I add that I loved that the bartender came around and quietly refilled everyone’s glasses.  And finally, Vicki, thank you for orchestrating it all and having such a great menu and wonderful taste.  I love working with you on events because I don’t have to worry about anything.”

Our friends at Cowgirl Creamery (www.cowgirlcreamery.com) highly recommend this Devil’s Gulch.

Until next time…have a delicious day!
Vicki
